"Give A Day, Get A Disney Day!"

I'm really very excited about the new Disney Parks promotion. In the past, Disney Parks had the "Year of a Million Dreams" and more recently the "What Will You Celebrate?" promotion. Starting January 1, 2010, Disney's asking you to "Give A Day" to "Get a Day".
The "Give A Day, Get A Disney Day" promotion is about giving back to the community and helping those in need. For giving a day of your time to volunteer, Disney will give YOU a day in their parks, free!
The volunteer opportunities are coordinated by the HandsOn Network and are for the whole family! The HandsOn Network helps more than 70,000 nonprofit agencies and has 250 volunteer centers all across the country!
Disney has set up a website to keep you updated (with the help of some Muppet pals :) ). Check it out HERE.

EPIC MICKEY CONFIRMED!

A while back, there was some gorgeous concept art of a video game involving Disney. It was being called "Epic Mickey". Upon discovering the pictures, I was dying for more. The rumors have now been confirmed! The November issue of Game Informer magazine will feature an article and this beautiful artwork on the cover:

GameInformer.com

Here is some of that concept art. Go here for more!

The only thing I have read about the plot so far is that it is about forgotten Disney characters and them taking their revenge on Mickey. These "forgotten" characters live in the apocalyptic Disney universe (as pictured above). Oswald the Rabbit (Walt Disney's first character, 1927) is the main villain and is trying to make the world miserable to get back at Mickey for his popularity. Oswald sends out The Phantom Blot (1939) to rid the world of color and happiness.
I hear that the gameplay will be similar to that of Okami. Players will use the Wii-mote to draw objects like bridges and to splash paint thinner on walls to see through them.
The game sounds like it has potential to be really enojyable and inventive. Let's hope it lives up to the artwork!

Lull in posting

I apologize for the lull in my posting! I recently discovered that Disney Parks has their own blog! What horrible timing I have!
I am going to try and keep things up-to-date, but they will obviously be more "in-the-know" than me :P

Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy

Staring September 25th (Tomorrow), one of Disneyland's most famous attractions is getting overhauled...
BY INTERGALACTIC GHOSTS!
That's right! Disneyland's Space Mountain has grounded all flights until more data is collected on the matter. A similar phenomenon has been taking place at Hong Kong Disneyland since 2007! When the attraction reopens, be prepared to be scared!

New Princess and the Frog Poster!

Here it is! The Princess and the Frog Poster!
It's cute! So many characters are featured on it and Princess Tiana's expression is adorable! So exciting!

Official Kouzzina Opening

On September 17th, Disney World's newest restaurant Kouzzina by Cat Cora officially had it's Grand Opening. The restaurant is located on Disney's Boardwalk where Spoodles used to be. If you are wondering who Cat Cora is (I know I was. Eek!) she is known for being on Iron Chef. She is also the only woman on Iron Chef including the Japanese version! She has also been on other Food Network shows and has written 3 books!
The restaurant offers breakfast, dinner, and dessert. The dinner menu is made up of delectable Mediterranean food! The Walt Disney World website has the menus and prices for download in .pdf format. The Disney Food Blog has some really great photos of the inside and some of the menu items!

Spark Animation Film Festival

The Spark Animation Film Festival started last Wednesday (September 16th) and ended today (September 20).

Glago's Guest

Among many great films and panels was a "Speaker Session" about the film Glago's Guest.
The short film, by Bolt director Chris Williams, tells the story of a Russian soldier guarding a remote Siberian outpost. The soldier, Glago, is visited by an strange "guest" and learns that things are not always as they seem.(Disney Animation)

Also at the festival, the documentary Frank and Ollie (1995) was shown. This touching documentary follows the careers as well as the lifelong friendship of the two late Disney animators.
Following the showing of Frank and Ollie, was The Jungle Book. Sounds like my idea of a movie night!

Princess and the Frog Screenings

Only a few tickets left for the Princess and the Frog screenings!
November 25th through December 13th Disney is holding screenings of the Princess and the Frog. There are shows in New York's Ziegfeld Theater and in Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Studios. The screenings are more than just a movie and popcorn. Guests to the screenings will get to meet Disney Princesses, see original props and costumes from the Disney Archives, play at the "Bayou Adventure," and much more!

Buzz Lightyear, Back on Earth

After spending 468days in space, Buzz Lightyear has returned to Earth!
On May 31st , 2008, Buzz launched into orbit aboard the STS-124. He spent time aboard the International Space Station and returned September 11, 2009 aboard the space shuttle Discovery.

Buzz Lightyear and his crew mates will be honored in a special Magic Kingdom Parade this October!(Gizmodo)

Ariel's Adventure attraction also being built at Disney's California Adventure

Each section will have their own castle/meet-and-greet area. The Beauty and the Beast section will also include a full-service restaurant rightfully named "Be Our Guest." Tinkerbell will also have a section called "Pixie Hollow".
The famous Dumbo attraction is getting a face-lift as well! It will feature two spinners and no lines!

First Post!

Hello and welcome to my first Disney Blog!
I really hope that this will become a daily source for Disney news and information.
Here's a little about me:
I am 20 years old and have always been a huge Disney fan. I worked in Walt Disney World back in 2007 and loved every minute of it! I collect the large Disney Snowglobes and currently have 16 of them! I am hoping that this blog will keep me up to date and keep me close to Disney! :P
